My journey in Solana

I didn't come to Solana as a developer. My background is journalism and communications: writing, and getting people to understand each other.

When the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine started, I wanted to build something that would keep working while a lot around me wasn't. Solana was where that made sense to me. There was a lot to learn, and I knew the way through would be hard. It always is.

So I launched a testnet validator in March 2022. At first I was a bit scared, because it was a completely new field for me, so I started learning hard. Testnet taught me a lot. By the time I was approved for mainnet in August 2023, I had enough behind me to keep going.

Over time it grew past being just a node. I made guides people could actually follow, and I became part of a strong community.

The validator is still running, and so am I. Here it is, one date at a time:

      Launched a testnet validator

      Weeks after russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, with no blockchain background and a lot to learn.

    2. 5 November 2022

      Joined the Solana Ukrainian validators community

      Operators from across Ukraine who share what they learn and back each other up.

      Kept the testnet node running

      Through blackouts and air-raid alerts, without incidents that would have set the node back.

What I stand for

My values come from my life. I've lived through chaos, through uncertainty, and through war. I've watched systems let people down, and that's why I run this node the way I do: 0% commission, numbers anyone can check, and a share of the profit going to people hurt by the war.

Humanitarian support

Part of the profit goes to people displaced or affected by the war. I've seen up close what that need looks like.

Transparency

I run this openly. You don't have to take my word on performance: every number is public, and you can look it up yourself.

Community first

For me, being part of Solana means sharing what I figure out, building what I can, and helping where it's needed, especially in Ukraine.

I'm not trying to squeeze the most profit out of this node.
My job is to keep it online and make it easy to see how it's doing.

I run a validator around the clock, so I see what's missing along the way. That's why I keep building, usually to make validators and staking easier to understand. Here's what I've built for the Solana community.

  2. Stake health

    New: for people who have already staked

    Paste or connect the wallet that owns your native stake and get a checkup in plain language: how much is staked, what landed last epoch, and whether anything needs your attention. Read-only, public key only, it never moves SOL. Also available as a Telegram bot that writes when a new epoch starts.

  1. Open staking in your wallet. Phantom, Solflare and Backpack all have a "Stake SOL" option; most other wallets do too.
  2. Choose this validator. Search for AndrewInUA, or paste the vote account above.
  3. Pick an amount and confirm. Your stake activates at the next epoch boundary and earns rewards every epoch after that. Undelegating takes about one epoch to cool down.

A reliable validator, openly run

I'm Andrii, the person behind AndrewInUA. My validator has personality and values: it's operated with care, dedication and deep technical responsibility, and you can reach me any time. I believe that transparency isn't optional. It's essential.

Infrastructure

  • Bare-metal server in Germany, with a synced hot-spare server that can take over if the main one fails.
  • The mainnet node runs on the DoubleZero network and the Jito BAM block engine.
  • A separate testnet node, maintained as the Solana Foundation Delegation Program requires.
  • Separate wallet and signer setup for key security; hardened SSH access and port isolation.
  • Automated monitoring at system and network level, with immediate alerts on delinquency, skipped slots or missed credits.

Transparency

  • 0% commission on staking rewards and 0% MEV commission. The full commission history is public on Stakewiz.
  • In the Solana Foundation Delegation Program since 16 August 2023, with its ongoing performance requirements.
  • Full performance history is public on Stakewiz and validators.app. Nothing on this site is the only source.

Why it matters

When you stake SOL, your tokens never leave your wallet. They remain yours, protected by the protocol. What you choose is who keeps the network running with your stake. This node is run to stay online, vote reliably and skip nothing, and to give you an honest picture of how it does.
